Have you ever been enrolled in an honors english class, or on the flip side, remedial? Chances are, since most of you reading my blog are doing so as credit for a college English class, you probably have not been in remedial. But have you given much thought about your feelings about tracking? I know there is much debate about ability-based tracking, and therefore I have decided to use it as my topic for this semester. At this moment, I’m not sure how I personally feel about tracking. I realise that college isn’t for everyone, meaning simply that not everyone wants to go to college, and therefore shouldn’t be forced to take classes in high school that prepare them for that future. I also feel that although students should have the option of taking classes that prepare them for technical jobs, those choices shouldn’t be made for them by the school. —————————- Ok. Now, when I first wrote this blog entry, this seemed like an interesting topic, but I just didn’t find enough news to generate much of a blog about it. So, in hindsight, I am switching my main topic to GLBT Issues in the classroom. At the MPTCE Conference, I attended the break off session that talked about talking about these topics in the classroom, and I thought it sounded interesting. I also think it will tye nicely in to our classroom discussions of writing for social justice. I have subscribed to the BBC News feed,
